30-01-11: Stations mounted

The stations is mounted on the strongback. To compensate for the flimsy (narrow) piece of wood holding the stations I have mounted a small reinforcement.
I got a gift certificate to the local timber yard in corporate christmas gift. This has been converted into a pile of pine boards

The setup for stipping the planks is about ready...

16-01-11: Stations on the strongback

Now the stations are starting to getting attached to the building rig. I like the word "strongback" - the stable spine. In retrospect there are a 1000 things I would have done different if had known better...
I would not have used a small narrow board to attach the station to the strongback.... It is to flimsy.
I would not have used 2" x 4" to build the strongback... It twists to easily. And so on..

Here you can see the space allocated for the stations on the strongback.

Please observe my support for the strongback. (I do not know the english word for these..). After trying with some cheap boght ones I got so annoyed that I build a pair myself. They are very stable when loaded with a couple of concrete tiles at the buttom.

02-01-11: Cutting the stations

Cutting the stations with a jigsaw. I just cut roughly and then trim the rest on my disc sander. I probably should have been wearing a dust mask.....
